Troubleshooting Network Issues on Any Carrier: Step-by-Step Guide

Having network issues with your mobile device can be frustrating, especially when you're unable to make calls or access the internet. Whether you have a GSM unlocked or Fully unlocked (GSM + CDMA) phone, there are steps you can take to address network problems and get your device back up and running. In this blog post, we'll walk you through the troubleshooting process, providing step-by-step instructions to resolve network issues on any carrier.

If you have purchased an unlocked device from us, rest assured that we have thoroughly checked it for BYOD compatibility before selling.

Steps to Resolve Network Issues

It's important to note that in most GSM unlocked or Fully unlocked phones we can easily insert an active BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) SIM card and register the IMEI with the carrier for calls. However, if you encounter any issues during this process, follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Step 1: Check for Unlock Code Prompt or Network Block Message

When you insert your SIM card into the device, observe if a white window appears, asking for an unlock code. If you receive this prompt, you may need to obtain an unlock code from your carrier. If you purchased the device from CELLMIGO, Contact us for the unlock code.

On the other hand, if you get a message indicating network block, it could indicate a different issue that needs to be addressed.

Step 2: Reset Network Settings

1. Go to Settings >> General Management >> Reset >> Reset Networking Settings.

2. Tap on Reset Networking Settings to confirm and reset the network settings on your device.

Step 3: Ensure Network Mode and Access Point Names (APN) are Correct

1. Go to Settings >> Connections >> Mobile Network.

2. Confirm that the network mode matches the bands supported by your carrier.

3. In Mobile Networks, navigate to Access Point Names and select your carrier. If you can't find your carrier, tap the three buttons on the top-right corner and select Reset to default.

Step 4: Disable Wi-Fi Calling

1. Go to Settings >> Connections >> Mobile Network.

2. Ensure that Wi-Fi Calling is turned off.

Step 5: Reset the Phone and Reinsert the SIM Card

1. Reset your device by turning it off and on again.

2. Remove the SIM card from your phone and carefully reinsert it.

Conclusion:

Network issues can arise on any carrier, but by following the steps outlined in this guide, you can troubleshoot and resolve most common problems. Start by checking for unlock code prompts or network block messages, and if you encounter issues, proceed to reset the network settings, ensure correct network mode and APN settings, disable Wi-Fi calling, and finally, reset the phone and reinsert the SIM card.

Remember, GSM unlocked or fully unlocked phones are designed to work seamlessly with different carriers. However, in case of network issues, these troubleshooting steps should help you get your device connected and functioning properly. If problems persist, it's advisable to contact your carrier's customer support for further assistance. Stay connected with a reliable network and enjoy uninterrupted communication on your mobile device.
